How To Choose Hydraulic Breaker

At present, the appearance of hydraulic breaker in the market is quite similar, there are many brands, and the price is different, which brings a lot of troubles to the users in choosing the suitable hydraulic breaker. For the users or investors of hydraulic breaker, it is necessary and important to take a little time to understand some basic knowledge about the performance, structure, quality, efficiency of hydraulic breaker and how to match with excavator before purchasing. Especially for the owners of medium and high-grade excavators, it is more necessary to consult carefully and work out a crushing beneficial to excavator Hammer selection strategy and standard. It can be said that the selection of hydraulic breaker is not only related to the efficiency of future crushing projects and the guarantee of construction period, but also related to the long-term return of investors’ funds. Generally, the following aspects should be considered in the selection of  hydraulic breakers.

Weight and bucket capacity of excavator

Fully considering the weight of the excavator can prevent the excavator from tipping over due to the weight of the hydraulic breakers when the boom is fully extended. If the selected hydraulic breaker is too large, it may cause the excavator to tip over. If it is too small, it will not give full play to the efficiency of the excavator, and at the same time, it will accelerate the damage of the hydraulic breaker. Only when the weight of the excavator and the hydraulic breaker match, can the excavator and the hydraulic breaker fully play their functions. In general, the standard bucket capacity of an excavator reflects the weight of the machine. At present, a better method is to calculate the range of the optional hydraulic breaker according to the bucket capacity of the excavator.

Working flow and pressure of hydraulic breaker

The working flow of different size hydraulic breaker is different. The flow rate of small hydraulic breaker can be as small as 23L per minute, while that of large hydraulic breaker can be more than 400L per minute. When selecting the hydraulic breaker, make sure that the flow requirements of the hydraulic breaker are consistent with the output flow of the spare valve of the excavator. Generally speaking, the flow rate determines the working frequency of the hydraulic breaker, that is, the number of impacts per minute, and the flow rate is directly proportional to the number of impacts. However, when the output flow of the spare valve of the excavator is greater than the demand flow of the hydraulic breaker, the hydraulic system will generate too much heat, resulting in the system temperature is too high, and the service life of the components will be reduced. When selecting the hammer, the working pressure of the hammer should be consistent with the limited pressure of the backup valve. If not, add relief valve in the pipeline system and adjust it according to the rated pressure of hydraulic breaker.

Structure of hydraulic breaker

At present, there are three kinds of the most common exterior design of the vehicle mounted hydraulic breaker: side type, top type and box type (also called mute type). Side type and top type usually use two thick steel splints to protect the two sides of the breaker center. Such structural design has no protection for the front and back of the hydraulic breaker. Their disadvantages are that they are more noisy than the box type hydraulic breaker of the same tonnage, the steel plates on both sides are easy to loosen or break, and the protection of the hammer body is not good. Such structures are rare in the European and American markets. The structure of the box type hydraulic hammer is that the shell completely encloses the hammer body, and the shell is provided with damping materials, which can produce buffer between the hammer body and the shell and reduce the vibration of the carrier at the same time. The advantages of box type hydraulic breaking hammer are that it can provide better protection for the hammer body, reduce the vibration of the carrier, reduce the noise, and solve the problem of loosing shell. This is also the mainstream and development trend of the global market.
